About the Press

University of Ljubljana Press has a long tradition of publishing scientific and professional publications, university textbooks and various language manuals. Since 2019, the publishing activities of all 26 faculties and academies of the University of Ljubljana have been combined into one organisational unit called University of Ljubljana Press , whose activities support the fundamental mission of the University – the development and dissemination of knowledge that is the subject of cognitive processes and the prmotion of critical and creative thinking. Measured by the number of publications (over 200 per year), University of Ljubljana Press is one of the largest publishers of academic literature in Central Europe and has for some time been the largest in Slovenia. 

Publications include works presenting the latest research results in all scientific fields, as well as specialised works of interest to the general public.

Numerous publications are available in print format at University of Ljubljana Press online Bookshop.

In addition to scientific research monographs, proceedings and study literature, University of Ljubljana Press also publishes 50 periodic professional journals. In the spirit of open science, most of these journals are freely accessible through the University of Ljubljana Press Journal web portal.

University of Ljubljana Press is a member of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) and a member of the European Research Infrastructure OPERAS.
