The analysed material presented in this monograph opens two issues: normativeness of word-formation, as exhibited by two word formation processes relevant for the word formative naming – derivation, the predominant process in Slavic languages and consequently in Slovene, and compounding, the predominant process in German; structural and semantic properties of derivatives, i.e. word-formation morphemics, including word-formation processes, the choice of the formant with respect to meaning, realization, also alternation and the distribution with respect to the base.
