For the fourth consecutive year, the International Centre for Comparative Historical Studies (ICCHS) opened the academic year with the ICCHS Inaugural Lecture and accompanying events. The three-day programme, which also marked the tenth anniversary of ICCHS, brought the art historian Dr Richard Bösel, a distinguished scholar of early modern Italian architecture, to the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana from 14 to 16 October.
After many years heading the department of architectural drawings at the Albertina in Vienna, Richard Bösel served as Director of the Austrian Historical Institute in Rome until his retirement. His research has focused, among other subjects, on Jesuit architecture and artists such as Francesco Borromini. In addition to his extensive publication record, he is currently working as a co-author on a monograph devoted to the artistic heritage of the Society of Jesus along the eastern Adriatic coast, from Trieste to Dubrovnik.
The International Centre for Comparative Historical Studies celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2026. The present bulletin therefore also presents our work to date and reflects on its future.
