Synopsis

The scientific monograph Children’s Early Literacy: Development, Monitoring and Support consists of two parts. The first part includes eight chapters in which the authors define early literacy and describe its development, along with various factors and ways of promoting early literacy in children. In the second part, which includes three chapters, the authors present the development and use of a tool for assessing children’s early literacy in preschool, which they developed.

The annexes include both forms of Early Literacy Scales: for children, aged from three to four, and for children from five to six years of age. Preschool professionals can use these scales in the process of assessing, monitoring, and promoting early literacy in preschool children. They are provided together with the explanation of the items used for both forms of scales.
