Bibliographic and Subject Analysis of Andrej Blatnik‘s Works
Synopsis
In the COBISS.SI system, there are approximately six hundred bibliographic records in which Dr Blatnik participated as author, co-author, translator, reviewer, supervisor, co-supervisor etc. We focused on his scholarly publications, pedagogical work, and literary output available in COBISS.SI, the Repository of the University of Ljubljana, and the portals Dobreknjige.si and Bukla. The bibliographic data were analysed in terms of subject headings and Universal Decimal Classification. We also examined circulation data in COBISS.SI and the Repository of the University of Ljubljana, while annotations on Dobreknjige.si and Bukla were analysed for their structural elements. The analysis of data on the portals was conducted between 22 April and 29 April 2026. Dr Andrej Blatnik primarily focuses on research in publishing, the book market, literature, and translation, which were also the most frequent subject headings in COBISS.SI. The analysis of his pedagogical work showed a thematic interplay between publishing and literary creation. Theses and dissertations in the Repository of the University of Ljubljana are frequently viewed and downloaded. Records in COBISS.SI related to his artistic work indicate a broad scope of activity in the literary field (short stories, novels, plays, radio plays, travel writing), with short stories particularly prominent. An analysis of ten annotations of Blatnik’s literary works showed that on Dobreknjige.si they most commonly include the following structural elements: author and content description, reader experience, genre, evaluation, and structure. On Bukla, however, annotations predominantly feature content description, author, and theme. The interconnection of data within a library catalogue, provided all records of an author are included, can offer a comprehensive overview of an author’s entire body of work. The analysis also revealed certain deficiencies in bibliographic records that limit the possibility of conducting a more in-depth content analysis.
