Traducir segnali discorsivi: El caso de magari

This chapter analyzes the Italian discourse marker magari and its trans­lation into Spanish. We begin by presenting its definition in both Italian and bilingual lexicography, followed by an examination of its syntactic be­haviour to highlight its functional and semantic complexity. Next, through the analysis of a corpus of Italian-to-Spanish translations (including La bustina di Minerva and selected texts from Legioni e Falangi / Legio­nes y Falanges), we propose a new discursive definition that characterizes magari as a multifunctional discourse marker.
