Artistic activities at third age universities in Slovenian Istria
Synopsis
The importance of artistic activities in enhancing the quality of life for older adults is increasingly being emphasized. This study aims to examine and analyse the implementation of artistic activities at universities of the third age in Slovenian Istria. The research objectives include identifying the types of artistic activities offered, exploring participants’ experiences and evaluations of these activities, and investigating their connection to personal development, creative expression, and social engagement. A qualitative study was conducted with 50 older adults participating in artistic programmes at universities of the third age in Slovenian Istria. The findings reveal that these activities not only support the development of artistic skills but also play a significant role in maintaining psychophysical health, fostering social connections, and preserving cultural heritage. This research highlights the crucial role of artistic programmes in improving the quality of life for older adults and in fostering inclusive and supportive communities.
