Mentoring as a catalyst for knowledge circulation: The case of the Heart Mentoring Community
Synopsis
Mentoring represents an effective framework for strengthening the acquisition and transfer of knowledge. In Slovenia, the importance of mentoring is increasingly being recognized, as evidenced by numerous mentoring programmes. However, most of these address a relatively limited set of challenges related to specific target groups, indicating that the potential of mentoring has not yet been fully utilized. A more holistic approach is needed to gain a deeper understanding of the multidimensional nature of mentoring, bring it closer to the wider public, and make it more accessible. An example of such an approach is the Heart Mentoring Community. The article presents the purpose, mode of operation, and contribution of Heart Mentoring to the development of mentoring practices. It highlights the importance of connecting individuals in formal and informal communities aimed at strengthening interpersonal relationships and collaboration.
