Hrvatski, slovenski i makedonski u usporedbi: odabrane sintaktičke teme

The comparison of Croatian, Slovenian, and Macedonian in this book is based on a concise overview of the morphosyntactic features of the three languages and on three syntactic topics in particular – an overview of predicates, syntax of cases, and sentence negation in the three languages.

Before the comparative analysis of the three syntactic topics, an overview is pro­vided of how they have been treated in relevant Croatian, Slovenian, and Macedo­nian grammatical and scholarly literature in order to introduce the phenomena in question and to offer the reader a basic insight into the treatment of these syntactic topics within each philological tradition.

The analysis is based on Croatian example sentences (presented in the text), con­structed according to native-speaker usage and conforming to the grammatical and orthographic norms of the Croatian standard language. The examples were trans­lated from Croatian into Slovenian and Macedonian by the authors, and verified both by native speakers with academic expertise in the respective languages and by consulting representative Croatian, Slovenian, and Macedonian corpora, as well the digital dictionaries of the three languages.
