Synopsis

This study brings to the Slovene public a debate which today is part of a most lively theoretical field of cosmopolitanism. In the last decade, theories of cosmopolitanism have faced an enormous revival of interest. Many authors explain the interest in relation to the end of the Cold war era and new challenges which this turn in history presents to map a just global social order. The philosphical and ethical legacies in the debate go back to Kant and the Enlightenment. In the present, the philosopical heritage of world citizen, and the idea of the »perpetual peace« is reconsidered in light of new interdisciplinary perspectives on citizenship, membership and belonging placed in the postnational and transnational context of the globalized world.
