In 2018, the Slovenian cultural space dedicated itself to celebrating the centenary of the death of Ivan Cankar with great respect, enthusiasm and broad support from leading institutions. In Ljubljana, on the anniversary of the writer's death, the commemoration year was summed up at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana at an international symposium, which was organized by the Department of Comparative Literature and Literary Theory of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. After this event, which was attended by some of the most prominent domestic and foreign researchers of Cankar, the organizers came up with the idea of a publication that would present - in a similar spirit as a symposium - the broad international horizon of modern Cankar studies. The present book is the fruit of this idea.
