Not only will the reader be introduced to the phenomenon, but they will also gain insight into how to research it and what volunteering in Slovenia looks like in all its dynamics and forms, also from the perspective of the people involved - the volunteers. The reader will learn who the volunteers are and why, what promotes and supports volunteering in their environment, what it brings and at the same time what can be done to make it even more alive. This is one of the very rare attempts to explore in depth and systematically the nature of this phenomenon, which, in one way or another, involves a significant part of the Slovenian population, in various fields, from social work and security to education and culture.
