Synopsis

This article presents the preparation of Slovak dubbing for the Slovenian–Luxembourgish–Croatian–Slovak Christmas feature film Beanie by the director Slobodan Maksimović and screenwriter Saša Eržen from 2022. It focuses on the stages and special features of the translation of the Slovenian script into Slovak and also analyzes the translation of cultural details related to the Christmas season. Of interest are adaptations of film characters’ names for the needs of Slovak child viewers, translations of parody song lyrics, and so on. The article also discussed the adaptation of dialogue that needed to be translated to match the visual element of the film.
