At Our Company, We Care for Employees – Methods and Approaches That Promote Employee Well-Being
Synopsis
Work in Slovenian organizations often changes according to the economic situation, which requires flexibility and proactivity in designing optimal conditions for employees. The chapter addresses various methods for improving the work environment, including team activities, career counseling, stress management workshops, and the development of communication skills. It also touches on the impact of personal experiences of employees, the importance of organizational climate and psychological safety, as well as communication and leadership in the work environment.
The author explores the differences and similarities between key concepts such as well-being, vitality, satisfaction, work engagement, and good mood, and their impact on work performance and organizational outcomes. It also presents examples of creating a supportive work environment in Slovenia, which include mindfulness, meditation, mutual support, mentorship, art and music therapy, gamification, digital storytelling, and social and emotional learning programmes. In conclusion, it emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach to well-being at the workplace, which includes the physical, psychological, and social well-being of employees. The author advises employers on how to avoid pitfalls and ethical dilemmas in designing well-being programmes, and offers guidelines for employers and employees to improve well-being at the workplace.
