Synopsis

Authenticity in the workplace is an area that has increasingly become the subject of research in recent years. The results show that it is associated with many positive outcomes, such as higher well-being and lower incidence of burnout. However, the authors have not yet seen any research in this area in Slovenia. In the present study, we investigated the link between authenticity and well-being at work. We used the Authenticity Scale and Work Wellbeing Questionnaire, and a total of 131 people participated in the study, with 102 females and 29 males. The average age of the participants was 39 years. Statistical analysis showed that authenticity and well-being are highly correlated, with job satisfaction being the most strongly related to authenticity among the workplace well-being factors. Promoting authenticity in the workplace can lead to higher employee well-being at work. The paper presents some suggestions that could lead to higher authenticity for organizations and individuals.
