Transhistorična deliberacija in izzivi 21. stoletja: Slovenci kot študija primera
Keywords:
transhistorical deliberative democracy, deliberative practices, public deliberation, Slovenia’s discourse on societal developmentSynopsis
The monograph examines how, in today’s complex global situation – marked by the ongoing transformation of the public sphere, global democratic backsliding, the erosion of deliberative quality, and the uncertainty of the various and varied challenges, risks, and crises we are facing – public debate can be reinvigorated by developing a new vision of the future, grounded in dialogue aimed at ensuring social and environmental sustainability. In seeking answers to this question, the monograph draws on several conceptual frameworks that emphasize the role of inclusive and high-quality deliberation in political decision-making. In its theoretical foundation, it develops a universal research framework based on the norms and principles of deliberative democracy. This framework is sensitive to the cultural and historical specificities of societies while also enabling the study of how embedded deliberative practices shape contemporary political decision-making.
