Boris Pahor (1913–2022): Veliko srce v mestu v zalivu
Synopsis
This article outlines the life of Boris Pahor (1913–2022), a Slovene writer from Trieste and witness to historical events. His life reflects the history of the Slovene ethnic community, which he portrayed in his prose. This—together with his extensive correspondence with contacts around the world, spanning the entire second half of the twentieth century and constituting a large portion of his legacy—can be conceived as the writer’s »new body,« which continues to keep him alive even after his earthly death. Contributing to this is also the ongoing reading and study of his oeuvre, which is one of the most important segments of Slovene literature both within and beyond the national borders.
