Frase scissa italiana in serbo: Una sfida traduttiva

Il presente contributo si propone di analizzare le modalità di traduzione delle frasi scisse dall’italiano in serbo. Dal punto di vista sintattico, la frase scissa isola l’elemento focale della frase, portando alla suddivisione di una frase semplice. Il focus si trova sul punto caratteriz­zato dall’attenzione maggiore, mentre il resto del messaggio è proiettato su uno sfondo privo di enfasi interna. Considerando che la funzione della frase scissa non è solo quella di enfatizzare l’elemento focale come una parte isolata, ma evidenziare il suo legame con il contesto di fon­do, la frase scissa riflette anche gli elementi extralinguistici del testo. Pertanto, costituisce una sfida notevole nella traduzione. L’obiettivo di questo articolo è quello di analizzare le modalità di traduzione delle frasi scisse presenti nei due romanzi di Antonio Scurati: M. Figlio del secolo e M. L’uomo della provvidenza tradotti in serbo. Con la loro natura storico-letteraria, i due libri si prestano bene per l’analisi delle traduzioni di frasi scisse dall’italiano in serbo, che rivela inoltre le dif­ferenze tra i sistemi linguistici italiano e serbo. I risultati indicano che la struttura sintattica delle frasi scisse viene prevalentemente realizzata tramite tecniche di trasposizione quali le costruzioni avverbiali. Tutta­via, i cambiamenti morfosintattici nelle soluzioni traduttive comporta­no la perdita di alcune caratteristiche sintattiche e pragmatiche marcate presenti nella lingua italiana.

Italian cleft sentence in Serbian: A translation challenge

This paper aims to analyze the methods of translating cleft sentences from Italian into Serbian. From a syntactic point of view, the cleft sentence isolates the focal element of the sentence, leading to the division of a simple sentence. It isolates the focus where attention is most desired and projects the rest of the message onto a background devoid of internal emphasis. Considering that the function of the cleft sentence is not only to emphasize the focal element as an isolated part but also to highlight its connection with the background context, cleft sentences reflect the extralinguistic elements of the text. Therefore, they pose a significant challenge in translation. The aim of this article is to analyze the translation methods of Italian cleft sentences found in two novels written by Antonio Scurati, M. Son of the Century and M. The Man of Providence, translated into Serbian. Given their histori­cal-literary nature, these books lend themselves well to the translation analysis of cleft sentences from Italian into Serbian, which also reveals the differences between the Italian and Serbian linguistic systems. The results indicate that the syntactic structure of cleft sentences is predomi­nantly realized through transpositional techniques, such as adverbial constructions. However, morphosyntactic changes in the translation so­lutions cause the loss of some marked syntactic and pragmatic features present in the Italian language.
