Voda v slovenski terminologiji, frazeologiji in paremiologiji
Synopsis
This article examines the use of the word voda ‛water’ from both a linguistic and philological perspective. The expression voda constitutes a fundamental phenomenon in both existential and lexical terms. Accordingly, it is highly pervasive in lived experience as well as in language, and it is employed across virtually all domains of human activity. Terminologization highlights the need for new meanings and designations to express and define conceptualizations of new referential content as clearly and precisely as possible. Phraseology demonstrates that the lexeme voda possesses significant phrase-forming potential, and metaphorization is frequently grounded in experiential and cultural foundations. Paremiology, in turn, draws attention to the living and contemporary use of the lexeme in sentential and clausal structures.
