Romi in romska naselja v Sloveniji
Keywords:
Romani people, Romani settlements, SloveniaSynopsis
This work is focused primarily on the phenomenon or Romani settlements in Slovenia. These are spatial and social units, wherein Romani people represent the majority of the population. By name, they are part of other (Slovenian) settlement, whereas by structure they are originating in sub-urban or rural slums, and form a separate part of the small settlement system. Only seven of them have more than 200 residents, and only two over 500. Other settlements are smaller, with predominant settlements between 50 and 100 residents. The settlements began forming in the previous century, and more intensively after the Second World War during the industrial paradigm supremacy in Slovenian society. Due to lack of planning, lack of resources and the transition of living and lifestyle patterns, Romani settlements formed as a spatially, structurally and physiognomically somewhat special part, separate from the Slovenian, of the settlement system. This work analyses in detail the genesis of the Romani settlements, their locations, current spatial structure and infrastructural equipment, as well as highlights various problems.
