Lektoriranje v sodobni jezikovni kulturi: Merila kakovosti in poklicni standardi

Copyediting is not correcting poorly written texts, but instead sophisticated genre-based attention to the appropriate character of published texts to meet common European cultural and professional standards. A copyeditor is a member of a team shaping quality texts for public consumption, and he or she is the first reader of the text. This article reviews the criteria by which the quality of a copyeditor’s work can be judged, as well as professional standards in related fields. It concludes with a proposal for a code of ethics with professional standards for copyeditors and language advisors.
