This article discusses examples of using knowledge about methodologically relevant similarities and differences in definiteness in Lithuanian and Slovenian, which provide transposition and prevent interference when teaching the norms of Slovenian to Lithuanian-speaking learners. The specific examples of two types of transfer considered show the advisability of using this technique for developing grammatical competence and mastering the norms of Slovenian.
